Daingerfield is a town located in Morris County, Texas. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 2,517. It is the county seat of Morris County.

Daingerfield is located at 33°1'51" North, 94°43'28" West (33.030721, -94.724451).

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 6.2 km2 (2.4 mi2). 6.2 km2 (2.4 mi2) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.

Daingerfield Demographics:

As of the census of 2000, there are 2,517 people, 957 households, and 694 families residing in the town. The population density is 403.2/km2 (1,043.0/mi2). There are 1,119 housing units at an average density of 179.3/km2 (463.7/mi2). The racial makeup of the town is 67.46% White, 26.14% African American, 0.56% Native American, 0.40% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 3.81% from other races, and 1.63% from two or more races. 5.32% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 957 households out of which 36.8% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 49.5% are married couples living together, 19.3% have a female householder with no husband present, and 27.4% are non-families. 25.1% of all households are made up of individuals and 11.6% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.53 and the average family size is 3.02.

In the town the population is spread out with 29.0% under the age of 18, 8.2% from 18 to 24, 25.5% from 25 to 44, 20.1% from 45 to 64, and 17.2% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 37 years. For every 100 females there are 84.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 79.2 males.

The median income for a household in the town is $28,333, and the median income for a family is $31,625. Males have a median income of $31,154 versus $19,196 for females. The per capita income for the town is $13,689. 23.5% of the population and 20.8% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 35.1% of those under the age of 18 and 11.1% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
